Terms and conditions  (Please Read)

The receipt of a completed booking form to Greenwich Yacht Club or a telephone booking or an email booking together with any monies due, followed by an acceptance email from Greenwich yacht Club forms the basis of a contract between us.
Bookings will only be accepted when accompanied by the appropriate deposit. The deposit for all courses is 25% (except where specifically indicated otherwise). Deposits are non-refundable. Full payment must be made (and cleared with our bank) 3 WEEKS before the course start date.

If full payment is not made by this date then Greenwich yacht Club reserves the right to re sell your place. Courses booked within THREE weeks of the start date must pay the full fee at the time of booking. Cheques should be made payable to the Greenwich Yacht Club and posted to 1 Peartree Way, Greenwich, London, SE10 0BW

CANCELLATIONS In the event of a cancellation by the student up to THREE WEEKS before the course start date then only the deposit shall be forfeited. In the event of a cancellation after this date the student shall be liable for the full course fees in all cases. We would advise students to take out cancellation insurance. Greenwich yacht Club reserves the right to cancel any booking at any time, in the unlikely event of this happening a full refund of all monies paid to us shall be offered.

CHANGES TO PROGRAMME Greenwich yacht Club reserves the right to make changes to the advertised programme or craft if circumstances beyond our control dictate this.

AGE LIMITS Greenwich yacht CLub cannot accept students under the age of 11. There is no upper age limit, but it will be the student’s responsibility to satisfy themselves that they are fit and able to join their chosen course.

HEALTH AND SAFTEY Sailing is an activity sport and it is the responsibility of the students to ensure that they are fit and healthy to sail. Please check with your doctor if you are in any doubt. You must inform your instructor or skipper if you are taking any form of medication and include this information as part of the booking form. For practical courses please bring double your usual dose. This means that you can carry your usual dose and your skipper can keep a reserve for emergencies. If for whatever reason the skipper has to put a student ashore or administer medical aid, no liabilities are accepted by Greenwich Yacht Club or the Skipper. On matters of safety the decision of your instructor or skipper is final. You must be able to swim a minimum of 50m for all practical and Sea Survival Courses. Smoking is not permitted in the classroom or below decks although if necessary smoking breaks can be taken ashore.

INSURANCE The club is insured for instruction, the club’s vessels, equipment and buildings. However, this does not cover the student’s personal possessions, motor cars, negligence/injury or disablement however caused.

RYA CERTIFICATES We provide all the necessary coaching but as with all training courses and exams we cannot guarantee you pass. The decision of your Instructor or Assessor is final. For externally moderated exams an appeals process is in place at the RYA.
Greenwich Yacht Club reserves the right to terminate your course at any time if your behaviour is unacceptable. In this instance we have no obligation to pay for any return travel costs or refund any monies paid to us. Any equipment borrowed from the club for the duration of the course must be returned at the end of the course. The cost of replacement will be levied in the event of the nonreturn of equipment.

COMPLAINTS Are best dealt with at the time; therefore in the first instance students should discuss their area of concern with their Instructor, who will endeavor to correct the matter according to the schools operating procedures. Failing a satisfactory outcome, please contact the school principal, Brian Harrison.

FORCE MAJEURE In the event of nonperformance, partial performance or delay resulting wholly or partly from any force majeure or any occurrence or circumstance whatever beyond Greenwich yacht Club’s control including the acts or omissions of third parties, labour difficulties, weather conditions, technical breakdown or accident to any vessel or any part of it, natural disaster or the act of any authority, then Greenwich yacht Club shall use reasonable endeavours to continue or perform the booking but otherwise shall have no liability to the student. The student shall be liable to pay such a part of the price as is applicable to that part of the booking which has been performed (if any), and all expenses connected with it. Anything in excess paid by the student shall be refunded. Greenwich yacht CLub’s determination of the applicable part of the price and the connected expenses shall be conclusive in the absence of manifest error. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and are subject to exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
